The Last Warlord of Vexis Prime
The desert wind howled, whipping up crimson sand and rattling the bones of long-dead conquerors. At the heart of the wasteland, standing atop a plateau of eroded stone, was Va’Dran the Unyielding, last of the Vexian warlords.
His scarred crimson skin shimmered under the twin suns, white hair whipping like a banner of defiance. The cybernetic monocle over his left eye hummed softly, scanning the horizon for signs of the enemy. His battlecoat—heavy with the weight of past campaigns—was adorned with relics of fallen foes.
The war was over.
At least, that’s what the Coalition believed.
They had razed the great cities of Vexis Prime, dismantled its fleets, and driven its warriors into the abyss. But they had left him behind. A mistake they would soon regret.
Va’Dran ran his gloved hand over the brass dial on his belt, feeling the smooth edges of the Sunbreaker Key—a forgotten weapon buried beneath the sands, its power enough to scorch entire starships from the sky.
The Coalition had buried it.
But they hadn’t destroyed it.
A distant rumble broke the silence. On the horizon, dust plumes rose—scout ships, sleek and predatory, skimming the dunes. They were coming for him at last.
He grinned, baring sharp teeth.
With a single motion, he pressed the dial. A deep tremor shuddered through the ground as ancient mechanisms awakened. The earth cracked, and a golden obelisk, half-buried beneath time itself, began to rise.
The Coalition had underestimated the last warlord of Vexis Prime.
They would not live to regret it.
